Police have arrested ‘Tajhat’ government agricultural training institute at Rangpur in the morning for sending ‘abusive’ remarks about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the reading of the class.
On Tuesday (2nd April) he was detained from the institute in the wake of protests by the locals.
Locals and police sources said that during the sixth batch of Tajhat Government Agricultural Training Institute in the morning on Monday (April 1st) senior teacher “Prabhat Chandra” gave ‘extreme abusive’ remarks against Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him). Immediate students protested and demanded to take action against the teacher along with the principal.
On Tuesday morning, the angry students protested demanding arrest and punishment of the accused teacher in front of the main gate of the institute.
At the same time, the locals protested on the Dhaka-Kurigram-Lalmonirhat highway at Tajhat intersection and protested. The traffic on the highway closed for about an hour. Later on, police brought the situation under control.
Principal of the Government Agricultural Training Institute Agriculturist Mohammad Ali said that the matter has been informed to the senior authority. The police detained “Prabhat Chandra”. He said that a case will be filed in this incident.
